An organized trunk? Yes, it’s possible!

Is your trunk full of junk? It doesn’t have to be. Follow these simple organizing tricks, and you’ll be well on your way to keeping things in order.

For starters, you need to take everything out of your trunk. That’s right – line up the lawn chairs, blankets, first aid kids, umbrellas and trash and decide what must stay and what must go. Toss the trash and eliminate anything that doesn’t need a permanent home in your car.

Invest in a container for must-haves. Anything you intend to keep in your car long-term can be neatly contained in a milk crate or some other kind of plastic tote. You can shop online for fancy trunk organizers, or you can use something as simple as a laundry basket.

If your children play sports, create a separate sports basket that’s easy to grab as you head to the ballpark. You might stash collapsible lawn chairs, blankets and sports equipment here.

Finally, get in the habit of loading and unloading your car regularly. Remove shopping bags as soon as you get home from a shopping trip, golf clubs as soon as you get home from the golf course and sports equipment when you get home from the big game. This way, you’ll have plenty of room for the items you collect on your next adventure!
