Back-to-school driving tips

August 13th, 2012 by

School bells will be ringing around the region this week as many students head back to the classroom after summer break.

This means morning traffic patterns may change, especially near schools. Do your part to make sure everyone stays safe during this transition.

A few handy tips:

  • Leave a few minutes early. It’s hard to know exactly where traffic hiccups may occur, and a little extra time may put you at ease during your commute.
  • Slow down and pay attention, especially near school bus stops and school crossing zones. Be on the lookout for little ones who may dash in a flash.
  • Reduce distractions. Turn down the tunes, and turn off your cell phone while you’re behind the wheel.
