What’s one simple thing you can do to make sure your car is running its best? Check your tire pressure once a month. You should also check pressure if any of your tires appears to be low on air.
Good tire pressure ensures good gas mileage, makes your car handle better and reduces the risk of blowouts – all things that are important to consider during winter weather.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Purchase a quality gauge. (These are available for purchase in our parts department).
- Locate the correct air pressure specifications for your car. These are usually located on a sticker inside the driver’s side door jam.
- Unscrew the plastic cap on your tire and use the gauge to check your tire pressure. Push down firmly. If you hear a hissing sound, you are letting air out of your tire.
- Add air as needed, being careful not to overfill.
Filling tires with nitrogen is also wise, as it helps maintain more consistent pressure. If you want to know more about filling your tires with nitrogen, give us a call at (888) 685-4312.
