Keep children and pets out of hot cars

July 7th, 2010 by

With temperatures hovering in the 90s, we want to remind everyone that parked cars can get HOT in a hurry. In fact, they can be extremely dangerous to children and pets.

Sadly, recent news reports suggest that 20 children have died of hyperthermia – elevated body temperature – since the beginning of the year. This represents an increase during the same time period in previous years. In some cases, children accidentally locked themselves in a parked vehicle while playing and simply couldn’t get out.

Remember: it’s never safe to leave children or pets in a parked car – even if you think you won’t be gone long. It’s also important to talk to your children about the dangers of playing in and around cars.
