Summer travel season is upon us, and Don Ayres Honda wants to make 2011 your best year yet! Join us each Friday as we provide fun tips for anyone planning to head out on a fabulous summer adventure. We’ll share travel trivia, boredom busters and super songs. (Go ahead … crank up the radio and sing to your heart’s content!) Here’s to a great ride!

Do you have a few books you’ve been meaning to read, but you just never seem to have enough time? A road trip is the perfect time to cross a few titles off your summer reading list, thanks to the expansive list of audio books now on the market. Simply pop the CDs into your car’s CD player, and get caught up in the story without ever having to turn a page! Or, if your car has a built-in audio jack, you can download books directly to your MP3 player or phone and listen to them over your car’s sound system.

Not sure what to read? Enjoy hundreds and hundreds of great titles for children and adults. Check these places for the best read-aloud tales.

  • Travel website RoadTrip America offers reviews on a thorough list of audio books that are perfect for travelers. Check it out here.
  • Cracker Barrel restaurants have more than 200 audio titles on hand. Simply buy the book of your choice, and when you’re done, return the audio book to a Cracker Barrel location in another city for a refund, minus $3.49 for each week you had the book. Check out some of Cracker Barrel’s most popular titles here.
  • At simply audiobooks, you can rent an unlimited number of books on CD before you hit the road. (Oops! Forgot to plan ahead? No problem. You can join the company’s download club, too.)
  • At audible.com, you can download titles directly to your mp3 player or phone.

Everyone loves a good story, and a road trip is a great time to get lost in a book. (Just don’t get lost on your journey!) Happy travels, everyone!
