Taming Trash and Other Car Clutter

Keeping a car clean is no small feat, but there are plenty of things you can do to stay ahead of the game. Here are a few of our favorite tips:

  • Get into the habit of emptying the contents of your car every time you return home from an outing. Immediately remove shopping bags, receipts, fast food bags and any personal items you may have taken along for the ride (jackets, shoes, purses and cell phones).
  • Make sure you have some sort of a trash container in your car. A small plastic bag is a great place to collect any trash that accumulates in your vehicle. An empty tissue box works too. Then, simply empty the container when it’s full or toss and replace.
  • Keep essentials organized by storing them in a simple container. A plastic milk crate (or something similar) is a great way to store loose items that you regularly keep in your trunk: umbrella, ice scraper, first aid kit, etc.
