Traveling this Thanksgiving? You’re one in 46.9 million
If you’re planning to travel over the long holiday weekend, you’re in good company.
According to AAA, we will see 300,000 more travelers than last year, making this the largest Thanksgiving travel season since 2007. In total, 46.9 million Americans are expected to travel 50-plus miles between Nov. 25 and Nov. 29.
So what do you need to do to stay safe on the road? Here are a few pointers:
- Check your tire pressure before you leave, as well as several times along the way. Keep a tire gauge in your glove compartment, and do a quick check when you stop to buy gas.
- Plan your route. Avoid construction zones and have an idea of where you might stop to fill your tank. There are plenty of great apps that can help you chart your course.
- Pack grocery store snacks – they’re a lot cheaper (and perhaps healthier) than the food you’d grab at a fast food restaurant. Plus, you need to make sure you save plenty of room for Grandma’s pumpkin pie!
- Traveling with children? Pack a stash of books, games and toys.
Be safe, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
